Science Blast at the RDS

Science Blast
On the 7th of March 2019, Ms O Keefe’s 6t class went up to Dublin for the Science Blast competition. It was held in Simmons Court in the RDS. Science Blast was brought to us by ESB.

When we arrived at the RDS we spent a few minutes setting up our stand with all of the items and posters we had prepared. Our class had spent the last few weeks researching and putting together our project. There were roughly 200 schools there.

Each school had their own stand with their question shown at the top. Our question was : What happens when you break a bone in your body? We brought posters, graphs, charts, diagrams and models of lots of different types of bones.

During the day lots of judges came around to each stand and asked lots of questions about the project. They then came back a while later to give feedback. The judges said that ours had a lot of work put into it and that it had turned out very well. They also said we worked nicely as a group.

While the judging was going on , there were exhibitions in each of the stages . My favourite was the Gastronaut Extreme. He explained the physics of lots of everyday things, and he was very funny.
We got the bus back to Kilcullen at the end of a very exciting Scientific day!
