Reading in the Sunshine

During book week, the children in Mr Hanafin's class and Ms O Driscoll's class paired up to read to each other. This is a wonderful activity that both groups enjoy and benefit from as both groups read and listen to each other.

Camogie teams first match

The first camogie match of the season took place the 5th of May 2017 in St. Laurence’s G.A.A pitch. We played Kilmeath and beat them 2-1 to 0-0. Roisin Cahill scored our point and Sophie Ngai scored our two goals! Everybody played great on the day, the backs blocked every ball, midfield covered a lot of ground and the forwards made some great passes. The captain on the day was Aideen Farrell. All girls gave it 100% and we look forward to our next match.

Scoil Bhríde Athletics

Scoil Bhríde Athletics
There was great victory for Scoil Bhríde Kilcullen in this year’s Cross Country. Both teams came home with a cup. The girls ran first. They had to run a distance of 1km. There were over 150 girls in the race. The girls that ran for Scoil Bhríde Kilcullen were Ellen Coleman, Edwina Birchall, Amy Tyrell, Leah Tyrell, Saoirse O’ Brien and Alex Connors. All the girls ran a fantastic race. The girls came 1st place overall and brought the cup home for the 3rd year in a row.
After the girls were finished the boys were up next. The boys had to run a distance of 1.2km. The boys that ran for Scoil Bhríde Kilcullen were Finn Cowper Grey, Paddy Taylor, Dara Coughlin, Tadhg Brophy, Daniel Baars, Kyle O’Connell and Rory Taylor. All the boys ran amazing. The boys came 1st place overall as well. This is a second win in three years for the boys.
Unfortunately Sinéad Moran, Katlynn Hogg, Dermot Coleman, Szymon Stepniak and Tom Healy were all injured and couldn’t run but came along for the support. We would like to thank Mr. O’ Raoghaill and Mr. Lloyd for training us and preparing us for the race. We would also like to thank all the parents who came along to support and Mrs. Flanagan for all her support. We had a great day out. Scoil Bhríde Abú!

Soccer Blitz

Our Soccer Blitz Teams

The FAI Primary Schools Futsal South Kildare 5-a-side blitz for boys and girls from 4th & 5th classes born in 2006 or after was held in Kilcullen Community complex on Thursday December 1st. There were 5 schools participating in total including Moone, Scoil Diarmada (Castledermot), Scoil Phadraig Naofa (Athy), St.Peter’s (Monasterevin) and ourselves.
We had 2 teams participating in both the boys and girls competitions, a team of “All-Blacks” and a team of “All-Whites”.
Our “All-Black” girls team were unbeaten on the day, drawing all 3 of their games and had a great battle drawing 1-1 in the final game of the day with their “All-White” counterparts, who finished very strongly after a tough start to the competition. The Moone girls team came out on top of the girls competition winning out on goal difference in the end.
Our “All-White” boys team had a tough start to the competition and despite some tough defeats and a couple of very narrow defeats, they finished very strongly winning their last game on a 4-0 scoreline. They can also take credit from the fact that they gave our “All-Black” boys team their toughest and closest game of the day.
The “All-Black” boys started the tournament on fire winning 7-0 in their first game. They went on to win all of their games beating St.Peter’s of Monasterevin 4-0 in their last game of the day in what was effectively a final shootout as St.Peter’s had also won all of their games up to that point. They combined extremely well with excellent 1 and 2 touch play and teamwork throughout scoring 26 goals in total in their 5 games and conceding only 1 on their way to a fantastic victory in the boys competition. In doing so, these boys made history as the first Scoil Bhride team to ever win a soccer tournament.
All teams must be complemented on their fantastic attitudes throughout the day as they played with tremendous commitment, enthusiasm and desire representing their school with great pride and distinction.
Squads:
Kilcullen All-White Girls: Hope Ormond, Saoirse O’Brien, Zara Hurley, Leah Tyrell, Caitlin O’Sullivan, Jenna Hegarty, Allie McCann, Kate Ryan, Kalina Slattery, Anna Taylor
Kilcullen All-Black Girls: Abbey MacNamara, Kiera Legg, Amy Tyrell, Emily Larrigan, Rebecca MCaffrey, Lauren de Courcy, Megan Bawn, Aine Browne, Billie Barrett, Hanna Corrigan
Kilcullen All-Black Boys: George Pearse, Rory Taylor, Dermot Coleman, Ruairí Morgan, Seamus Brown, Conor Curry, Eddie O’Loughlin, Liam Wynne
Kilcullen All-White Boys: Darragh Lambe, Adam O’Keefe, Lennon Wilson, Daniel Baars, Cillian Keogh, Niall Howard, Conor Rooney, Luke Corrigan.
