My day at Croke Park

by Adam England
6th Class Willow

I play G.A.A. for the school and for Kilcullen club. The teachers very kindly chose me to play at half time in the Kerry v Mayo semi final this year after we had got to the final of the Cumann na mBunscoil Mini 7's in school. I got two free tickets to bring my dad and sister. I represented Mayo on the day and I got to keep the Mayo kit.

We got there at 10 o'clock as requested. We got to a building beside the stadium and were told our numbers and teams. I was number 7 for Mayo. At about 11 o'clock we walked to the stadium.

When we got there they brought us to probably the nicest changing rooms ever. I got into my kit and  we went to the pitch to get photos taken. They brought us inside to have food, we had chicken and chips.

Game time. The match started. I was cheering for Mayo, it was a brilliant match. Half time came very fast we went down and played. Everybody wanted to score so I was the only back marking 4 people. I  am not sure what the score was but I enjoyed it.

I was very proud to have represented myself, my family, school, club and parish in Croke Park. It is a day i will always remember. Thanks to Mr. Lloyd & Mr. O'Connor who trained our mini 7's team and gave me the opportunity.
